The Proposed Layout for the BBS ICT Project Wireless Network

It is the intent of the BBS ICT Project to create a high-speed wireless network link between five Newfoundland communities, and through this link provide the communities with a high-speed Internet connection. The intent behind this effort is to use this wireless technology as a tool to enhance educational resources, to promote economic development and diversification and as a tool for telemedicine.

As of January 13, 2002 the first leg of the BBS ICT Project, which is the 19.6 km connection between the communities of Burgeo and Ramea was successfully completed. The next phase will be to implement the 45.5 km shot from Burgeo to Grand Bruit. Once this is done the connections between Ramea and the communities of Grey River and Francois will follow.
